A story of the Impending Apocalypse.
What you need to know: RBVS comprises several stories all interrelated and eventually forming a single thread. There are two ways of reading it: You may either read any or all of the novellas individually by clicking the appropriate links below. Or you may read it as a single novella with various chapters of various stories interspersed by selecting the link at the bottom of this page, jumping from one storyline (and narrator) to another. The choice is yours.
I'll tell you right away that there are some horror elements in this story. Some violence and even torture in places, some not very nice things that are intended to make the reader uncomfortable. There's also my sense of humor to deal with and I can be rather juvenile at times. Anyway, think of this as the bastard child of Stephen King, Quentin Tarantino, and Dennis Leary if they pulled a train on Mother Theresa (in her prime) and she gave birth to a 7lb 6oz crack baby named Gloria Steinem. Speaking of which...

Perhaps that's merely proof that we over-estimate our place in the universe. Lazarus, at least, doesn't suffer such illusions. She's my hero.
